Today I’m sporting these Nike Dunk SB Low Ruby Red Slipper, part of the “Wizard of Oz” pack.
These definitely have an Air Jordan XI-inspired build with the uppers being constructed of patent leather and mesh and the included rope laces. The icey red bottom completes the look. These also ship with white sb laces.
I honestly found these to be more of a watermelon shade in person, but there’s no denying that what really makes this shoe is the AJXI throwback materials and laces. An all-red pair of XI’s is still a pipe dream for most, so this dunk helps bridge the gap!
I found these to fit a tad stiff thanks to the materials used. That’s not to say that these are uncomfortable, its just that the Ruby Red Slipper is a relatively newer release, and patent leather at that, so of course it’s not going to be as cushy as kicks from back in the early SB days. Thus, I would go true to size on these.
Overall, I’m feeling these as far as the looks go, but the patent materials present a downside that’s tough to overlook. I get the AJXI link they are trying to form here, while still making a Wizard of Oz reference, however I think a different material set would result in a better sneaker overall.
